TNO launched Penrose Shared Research Program together with Taiwanese non-profit R&D organization Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) on the 10th of April in the Hannover Messe.
The Penrose program is a unique innovation eco-system which provides partners access to cutting-edge resources to foster collaboration to develop materials, processes and equipment required to facilitate the rapid adoption of Additive Manufacturing.
Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan is a nonprofit R&D organization engaging in applied research and technical services. Founded in 1973, ITRI has accumulated over 17,000 patents and incubated 225 innovative companies to help transforming Taiwan's economy from a labor-intensive industry to a high-tech industry.
The TNO facility in Eindhoven, the Netherlands will serve as the Penrose laboratory and program research facilities. A team of more than forty scientists, engineers, program managers and designers have joined the Penrose program.

The Penrose program, aligned with industry needs, has identified three Application Programs for development during the three-year timeframe: high tech spares and parts, embedded electronics and human-related elements. A special task force will focus on the design and enabling technology for important multi-material mechatronics allowing surprising combinations of polymers, metals, conductive materials and ceramics. To-date, several key partnerships have been established.
