In tandem with winter storms, 3D printing startup Formlabs announced today the latest from their inhouse material science team: White Resin. White adds another material to Formlabs' 3D printing material options for the Form1 3D printer. Users can now print out clear and grey and white objects.
"White is noteworthy not only for its strikingly pure, opaque color, but because it produces exceptionally smooth and colorstable prints for when the look and feel of a part is essential." writes Formlabs in a statement. "We have many more exciting classes of materials to come." said Michal Firstenberg, a material scientist at Formlabs.
Robert Vignone, senior modeler at DreamWorks Animation and coCreator of Mold3D.com said, "The new white resin is extremely appealing to me because it features a smoother finished surface for my 3D character prints. Characters tend to look best in either White or Grey, having both options adds to the quality and diversity of your 3D print portfolio."
White resin will soon be available at the Formlabs web store and will begin shipping immediately. Same as other Formlabs resin, one liter of the write material costs $149.
