Taiwanese IT manufacturing company New Kinpo Group, notable for its subsidiaries XYZprinting, Kinpo Electronics, and Cal-Comp Electronics, has just announced it will be expanding its manufacturing capabilities in 2017. As part of the expansion, Kinpo will augment its capacity at its manufacturing facilities in Indiana, USA, and expects to increase its workforce significantly, from 400 workers to between 1,000 and 1,500.
According to Kinpo, its main incentive for increasing both its work force and manufacturing capacity is to accommodate more orders for its XYZprinting 3D printers and Dyson vacuum cleaners. In 2016, New Kinpo Group reported consolidated revenues of up to $3.88 billion (or NT$122.8 billion), and sees the potential to increase them in 2017 by up to 20%. This expected growth, which would mean consolidated revenues of roughly $4.7 billion, would be largely due to 3D printer and vacuum sales.
Under its subsidiary brand name XYZprinting, Kinpo sold and shipped about 80,000 3D printers in 2016, and hopes to increase that number to between 130,000 and 150,000 3D printers in 2017. According to a piece in the Chinese Apple Daily Report, this increase in 3D printer sales and shipments will allow XYZprinting to turn a significant profit.
Not only filling 3D printer orders, however, Kinpo is also aiming to develop new 3D printing technologies and products. For the past three years, it has worked hard to make machines that are up to par with other 3D printer manufacturers, and it is now hoping to take another step forward by exploring new 3D printing technologies, such as laser and inkjet printing hybrids for professional markets.
XYZprinting, as most of our readers will know, has established itself as a reliable manufacturer of an affordable range of desktop 3D printers, including its diverse series of da Vinci 3D printers. The company caught the attention of the 3D printer world at CES 2017 with its new, very low-cost $230 da Vinci Nano 3D printer.
Kinpo also recently announced that it has taken a large 3D printer order from Chinese tech company Lenovo. As part of the order, Kinpo expects to ship 5,000 to 10,000 3D printers a year to the tech company. As one can imagine, this increase alone is sure to boost overall revenues for the company.
Along with the cited expansion, New Kinpo Group CEO Simon Shen has planned a visit to the construction site in Indiana, which will take place after the Lunar New Year on January 28, 2017.
